CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
sysv: don't call sb_bread() with pointers_lock held
syzbot is reporting sleep in atomic context in SysV filesystem [1], for
sb_bread() is called with rw_spinlock held.
A "write_lock(&pointers_lock) => read_lock(&pointers_lock) deadlock" bug
and a "sb_bread() with write_lock(&pointers_lock)" bug were introduced by
"Replace BKL for chain locking with sysvfs-private rwlock" in Linux 2.5.12.
Then, "[PATCH] err1-40: sysvfs locking fix" in Linux 2.6.8 fixed the
former bug by moving pointers_lock lock to the callers, but instead
introduced a "sb_bread() with read_lock(&pointers_lock)" bug (which made
this problem easier to hit).
Al Viro suggested that why not to do like get_branch()/get_block()/
find_shared() in Minix filesystem does. And doing like that is almost a
revert of "[PATCH] err1-40: sysvfs locking fix" except that get_branch()
from with find_shared() is called without write_lock(&pointers_lock). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
powerpc/imc-pmu: Add a null pointer check in update_events_in_group()
kasprintf() returns a pointer to dynamically allocated memory
which can be NULL upon failure. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: avoid online resizing failures due to oversized flex bg
When we online resize an ext4 filesystem with a oversized flexbg_size,
mkfs.ext4 -F -G 67108864 $dev -b 4096 100M
mount $dev $dir
resize2fs $dev 16G
the following WARN_ON is triggered:

This is because flexbg_size is too large and the size of the new_group_data
array to be allocated exceeds MAX_ORDER. Currently, the minimum value of
MAX_ORDER is 8, the minimum value of PAGE_SIZE is 4096, the corresponding
maximum number of groups that can be allocated is:
(PAGE_SIZE << MAX_ORDER) / sizeof(struct ext4_new_group_data) ≈ 21845
And the value that is down-aligned to the power of 2 is 16384. Therefore,
this value is defined as MAX_RESIZE_BG, and the number of groups added
each time does not exceed this value during resizing, and is added multiple
times to complete the online resizing. The difference is that the metadata
in a flex_bg may be more dispersed. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
crypto: scomp - fix req->dst buffer overflow
The req->dst buffer size should be checked before copying from the
scomp_scratch->dst to avoid req->dst buffer overflow problem. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
EDAC/thunderx: Fix possible out-of-bounds string access
Enabling -Wstringop-overflow globally exposes a warning for a common bug
in the usage of strncat():
drivers/edac/thunderx_edac.c: In function 'thunderx_ocx_com_threaded_isr':
drivers/edac/thunderx_edac.c:1136:17: error: 'strncat' specified bound 1024 equals destination size [-Werror=stringop-overflow=]
1136 | strncat(msg, other, OCX_MESSAGE_SIZE);
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...
1145 | strncat(msg, other, OCX_MESSAGE_SIZE);
...
1150 | strncat(msg, other, OCX_MESSAGE_SIZE);
...
Apparently the author of this driver expected strncat() to behave the
way that strlcat() does, which uses the size of the destination buffer
as its third argument rather than the length of the source buffer. The
result is that there is no check on the size of the allocated buffer.
Change it to strlcat().

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
f2fs: fix to avoid dirent corruption
As Al reported in link[1]:
f2fs_rename()
...
if (old_dir != new_dir && !whiteout)
f2fs_set_link(old_inode, old_dir_entry,
old_dir_page, new_dir);
else
f2fs_put_page(old_dir_page, 0);
You want correct inumber in the ".." link. And cross-directory
rename does move the source to new parent, even if you'd been asked
to leave a whiteout in the old place.
[1] https://lore.kernel.org/all/20231017055040.GN800259@ZenIV/
With below testcase, it may cause dirent corruption, due to it missed
to call f2fs_set_link() to update ".." link to new directory.
- mkdir -p dir/foo
- renameat2 -w dir/foo bar
[ASSERT] (__chk_dots_dentries:1421) --> Bad inode number[0x4] for '..', parent parent ino is [0x3]
[FSCK] other corrupted bugs [Fail] |
| libexpat through 2.5.0 allows recursive XML Entity Expansion if XML_DTD is undefined at compile time. |
| libexpat through 2.5.0 allows a denial of service (resource consumption) because many full reparsings are required in the case of a large token for which multiple buffer fills are needed. |
| OpenSSH through 10.0, when common types of DRAM are used, might allow row hammer attacks (for authentication bypass) because the integer value of authenticated in mm_answer_authpassword does not resist flips of a single bit. NOTE: this is applicable to a certain threat model of attacker-victim co-location in which the attacker has user privileges. NOTE: this is disputed by the Supplier, who states "we do not consider it to be the application's responsibility to defend against platform architectural weaknesses." |
| In ssh-agent in OpenSSH before 9.6, certain destination constraints can be incompletely applied. When destination constraints are specified during addition of PKCS#11-hosted private keys, these constraints are only applied to the first key, even if a PKCS#11 token returns multiple keys. |
| NCurse v6.4-20230418 was discovered to contain a segmentation fault via the component _nc_wrap_entry(). |
| An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel through 6.5.9. During a race with SQ thread exit, an io_uring/fdinfo.c io_uring_show_fdinfo NULL pointer dereference can occur. |
| An issue was discovered in drivers/net/ethernet/intel/igb/igb_main.c in the IGB driver in the Linux kernel before 6.5.3. A buffer size may not be adequate for frames larger than the MTU. |
| An issue was discovered in lib/kobject.c in the Linux kernel before 6.2.3. With root access, an attacker can trigger a race condition that results in a fill_kobj_path out-of-bounds write. |
| Allocation of resources without limits or throttling in ASP.NET Core allows an unauthorized attacker to deny service over a network. |
| A Stack-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to trigger a kernel panic via a crafted TCP packet when key-chain authentication is used for BGP or LDP. |
| A Reachable Assertion vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos on MX Series routers allows an unauthenticated network attacker to cause a denial of service via an eBGP route update when HFRR link protection is configured in a VRF. |
| A flaw was found in DPDK lib/vhost. Memory size is not adequately validated before mmap during vhost memory-region setup, which can lead to a host crash or memory corruption. |
| Dokku is a docker-powered platform as a service. In Dokku versions before 0.38.25, a user with app-level Dokku access and remote SSH access to execute docker-options commands can store arbitrary strings through the docker-options plugin, and those strings are later concatenated into DOCKER_ARGS and processed by Bash eval during build, deploy, or run operations. Shell command substitutions in the stored values are interpreted on the host, allowing arbitrary command execution with the privileges of the dokku operating-system user. This issue is fixed in version 0.38.25. |
| RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. From 3.13.0 until 3.13.19, 4.0.24, 4.1.15, 4.2.10, and 4.3.5, the MQTT 5 parser in deps/rabbitmq_mqtt/src/rabbit_mqtt_packet.erl accepts Request-Problem-Information on PUBLISH packets even though the property is valid only for CONNECT. An authenticated publisher with topic write permission can cause the broker to store and route that inapplicable property to a separately authenticated matching subscriber. When the subscriber path serializes the outbound PUBLISH, serialise_prop/2 has no matching clause, and the uncontained function_clause exception closes the victim MQTT or Web MQTT connection. The publisher connection and broker remain available, and queued replay, retained-message persistence, and broker-wide denial of service were not established. This issue is fixed in versions 3.13.19, 4.0.24, 4.1.15, 4.2.10, and 4.3.5. |
