CVE-2026-98037 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-29 7.0 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Reject untrusted allocated-object pointers When the final RCU read-side critical section ends, a local kptr is demoted to PTR_UNTRUSTED but retains MEM_ALLOC. The pointer may be NULL or may refer to an object whose lifetime is no longer protected. type_is_ptr_alloc_obj() nevertheless recognizes any PTR_TO_BTF_ID with MEM_ALLOC as a live allocated object. In particular, a refcount-only local kptr never carries NON_OWN_REF, so it still passes the bpf_refcount_acquire() argument check after RCU protection ends. The kfunc can then dereference NULL or stale memory. Make type_is_ptr_alloc_obj() reject PTR_UNTRUSTED pointers. Since type_is_non_owning_ref() is based on the same predicate, graph kfunc arguments obey the same live-object requirement. Fault-protected reads of the demoted pointer remain valid: writes are already rejected, and read fixups use bpf_may_fault_on_deref() rather than this predicate. [ kkd: Rewrote commit log ]
CVE-2026-98033 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-29 7.0 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Preserve inner map identity in callback frames Callback frame constructors initialize map-typed argument registers with __mark_reg_known_zero() and then restore map_ptr. This clears map_uid, which is the only field distinguishing inner maps that share an inner_map_meta template. When a timer callback invokes bpf_for_each_map_elem() on a second inner map, both the saved first map and the second map value can reach the nested callback as the same template with map_uid zero. bpf_timer_init() then accepts pairing the timer from the second map with the first map. The runtime records the first map in the timer without taking a reference. Freeing that map does not find the timer stored in the second map, so a later timer callback dereferences the freed map. Copy map_uid from the same caller register as map_ptr when constructing for-each, timer/workqueue, and task-work callback arguments. The existing identity check can then reject mismatched inner maps while allowing a callback value to be paired with its actual map.
CVE-2026-97583 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-29 7.5 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: afs: Clear stale peer app data after address list changes afs_fs_probe_fileserver() fetches the current endpoint state under server->fs_lock, but leaves old_alist as NULL. Consequently, afs_set_peer_appdata() treats every address list replacement as initial setup and only binds the new peers; it never unbinds peers removed from the old list. An address refresh can therefore proceed as follows. CPU 0 replaces server S's list and drops Pold without clearing Pold->app_data. The server destroyer then clears only S's current peers and lets S reach its RCU callback. After the callback frees S, CPU 1 handles a callback through an RxRPC connection that still pins Pold, reads Pold->app_data, and calls afs_use_server() on the freed object. KASAN reported: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in afs_find_server+0x3c/0xa0 Read of size 4 at addr ffff8881013e1af0 by task krxrpcio/7001/74 Call Trace: afs_find_server+0x3c/0xa0 afs_rx_new_call+0x15c/0x390 rxrpc_new_incoming_call+0x97c/0x1730 rxrpc_input_packet.constprop.0+0xd03/0xec0 rxrpc_io_thread+0x967/0x1640 Allocated by task 93: afs_lookup_server+0x1a7/0x14c0 afs_alloc_server_list+0x43f/0xb60 afs_create_volume+0x923/0x1490 afs_get_tree+0x1c6/0x10a0 Freed by task 0: kfree+0x131/0x3c0 rcu_core+0x50a/0x1850 Last potentially related work creation: __call_rcu_common.constprop.0+0x71/0xa10 afs_put_server+0x213/0x2b0 Preserve old->addresses for the peer app-data update so that removed peers are cleared before the endpoint state is replaced. CVE-2026-65970 2 Academysoftwarefoundation, Openimageio 2 Openimageio, Openimageio 2026-09-29 5.3 Medium
OpenImageIO is a toolset for reading, writing, and manipulating image files of any image file format relevant to VFX / animation. Prior to 3.1.16.0, a crafted ZIP-compressed TIFF processed with TIFF multithreading enabled can make TIFFInput::read_native_scanlines() return through an error path while asynchronous strip-decompression work remains queued. Because task_set is declared before ok and compressed_scratch, those captured objects are destroyed before the task-set destructor waits, allowing worker tasks to use stale stack and heap storage, resulting in a use-after-scope crash and denial of service. The affected implementation is identified by src/tiff.imageio/tiffinput.cpp, TIFFInput::read_native_scanlines(), task_set, ok, compressed_scratch, and uncompress_one_strip(), which define the relevant source path, functions, state, and trigger. This issue is fixed in 3.1.16.0.
CVE-2026-97498 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-28 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu/userq: pin mqd and fw object bo to avoid eviction mqd and fw objects are queue core objects which should remain valid and never be unmapped and evicted for user queues to work properly. During eviction if these buffers are evicted the hw continue to use the invalid addresses and caused page faults and system hung.
CVE-2026-97478 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-28 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: virt: acrn: Fix irqfd use-after-free during eventfd shutdown acrn_irqfd_deassign() and the eventfd EPOLLHUP wakeup can race and free the same struct hsm_irqfd: CPU0 CPU1 ---- ---- eventfd_release() wake_up_poll(EPOLLHUP) hsm_irqfd_wakeup() queue_work(&irqfd->shutdown) acrn_irqfd_deassign() hsm_irqfd_shutdown() list_del_init() eventfd_ctx_remove_wait_queue() eventfd_ctx_put() kfree(irqfd) hsm_irqfd_shutdown_work() container_of(work, ..., shutdown) irqfd->vm <-- use-after-free The deassign path freed the irqfd while a shutdown work item was already queued by EPOLLHUP (or vice versa), so the work item could resurrect a dangling pointer through container_of(). Switch to the lifetime model used by KVM irqfds: - Deassign/deinit only deactivate the irqfd: remove it from vm->irqfds under irqfds_lock and queue the cleanup work. - hsm_irqfd_shutdown_work() becomes the sole owner that unhooks the eventfd waitqueue entry, drops the eventfd reference and frees the irqfd. - A new HSM_IRQFD_FLAG_SHUTDOWN bit guarded by test_and_set_bit() ensures the cleanup work is queued at most once, no matter how many of {EPOLLHUP, deassign, deinit} fire concurrently. This is safe to call from the waitqueue callback, which runs with wqh->lock held and IRQs disabled and therefore cannot take irqfds_lock. - acrn_irqfd_deassign() flushes vm->irqfd_wq before returning so the eventfd is fully detached on return. acrn_irqfd_deinit() deactivates every irqfd, flushes the workqueue and only then destroys it, so no path can queue_work() onto a torn-down workqueue. - acrn_irqfd_assign() now installs the eventfd waitqueue entry and publishes the irqfd to vm->irqfds under irqfds_lock, so the irqfd is never visible to deassign/deinit before its waitqueue entry is in place, and any EPOLLHUP that fires in the assign window queues cleanup work that blocks on irqfds_lock until publication is done.
CVE-2026-98060 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-26 7.0 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Reject resilient lock operations in rbtree callbacks __bpf_rbtree_add() keeps parent and link pointers live across calls to the program-supplied comparison callback. The verifier therefore requires the root's lock to remain held throughout the callback. The helper path enforces this rule for bpf_spin_lock() and bpf_spin_unlock(), but the resilient lock kfunc argument path does not. Since resilient locks may protect BPF rbtree roots, a callback can release the root lock and let another CPU remove and free the node referenced by the in-progress tree walk. The walk then resumes using freed pointers. Reject resilient lock kfuncs in an rbtree comparison callback, matching the existing policy for the spin lock helpers. Resilient-lock-protected trees remain valid when their comparison callbacks leave lock state alone.
CVE-2026-97932 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-26 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Don't dereference trace_event_file in deferred trigger free The enable_event trigger defers trace_event_put_ref() to the trigger free kthread, but the trace_event_file can already be freed when the instance is removed. Keep the trace_event_call directly in enable_trigger_data so the deferred free does not access the freed trace_event_file.
CVE-2026-97908 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-25 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btqcomsmd: destroy RPMsg endpoints before freeing hci_dev The command and ACL RPMsg endpoints store struct btqcomsmd as their callback private data. The receive callbacks dereference btq->hdev without taking an hci_dev reference. The current teardown order frees the hci_dev before destroying the RPMsg endpoints in both the hci_register_dev() error path and the driver remove path. If WCNSS delivers data in that window, the endpoint callback can run with an already freed hci_dev and pass it to the Bluetooth core. For qcom_smd endpoints, rpmsg_destroy_ept() closes the channel and clears the callback under the channel recv_lock. The receive path holds the same lock while invoking the callback, so destroying the endpoints first both prevents new callbacks and serializes with any callback already running. Destroy the command and ACL endpoints before hci_free_dev(). Keep hci_unregister_dev() first during remove so the HCI core stops issuing operations before the transport endpoints are shut down. In the full registration-error cleanup path, return directly after freeing the hci_dev to avoid falling through to the partial-construction labels and destroying the endpoints twice.
CVE-2026-97432 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-25 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: fix P2P-Device binding handling Our binding handling for P2P-Device can run into the following scenario, as observed by our testing: - a station interface is connected on some channel - the P2P-Device does a remain-on-channel (ROC) on that channel - the ROC ends, and the P2P-Device is removed from the binding, but the phy_ctxt pointer is left around as a PHY cache so we don't need to recalibrate to the channel again and again in case it's not shared - a binding update by the station interface, even a removal, will re-add the P2P-Device to the binding - the P2P-Device is removed, which removes the PHY context, but it's still in the binding so the firmware crashes Since the P2P device is removed from the binding and only re- added by unrelated code, but we want to keep the phy_ctxt around as a cache for future ROC usage, fix it by adding a boolean that indicates whether or not the P2P-Device should be added to the binding, and handle that in the binding iterator. That way, the station interface cannot re-add the P2P-Device to the binding when that isn't active.
CVE-2026-93262 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-25 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: md/raid5-ppl: fix use-after-free in ppl_do_flush() The loop in ppl_do_flush() continues iterating after calling ppl_io_unit_finished(), touching io->pending_flushes and leading to a use-after-free. Add a break statement to stop the loop once io is freed.
CVE-2026-93279 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-25 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: staging: octeon: add missing tasklet_kill in cvm_oct_tx_shutdown The TX cleanup tasklet can be scheduled by the watchdog IRQ handler to execute cvm_oct_tx_do_cleanup. There can be a pending tasklet in the queue which might run after the cvm_oct_remove() frees net_device structures, causing a use-after-free in cvm_oct_tx_do_cleanup() as it iterates cvm_oct_device[] which is an array of netdevice pointers. Add tasklet_kill() after free_irq() to ensure the tasklet is no longer scheduled or running before teardown proceeds.
CVE-2026-93277 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-25 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/bnxt_re: Validate udata before executing commands The destroy callbacks currently zero the udata output after tearing down driver resources. If the userspace access fails, uverbs preserves the uobject and allows the destroy callback to run again, even though the driver resource has already been freed. Call ib_no_udata_io() before teardown so udata failures are detected while the resource is still intact, then return success after teardown completes. As part of this change, move ib_respond_empty_udata() to the start of the create and modify flows. While this is not strictly required for general create flows, as the core layer unwinds uobjects on failure, it is necessary for create AH. In _rdma_create_ah(), the HW object is otherwise leaked.
CVE-2026-91749 1 Google 1 Chrome 2026-09-24 9.6 Critical
Use after free in Workers in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.47 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Critical)
CVE-2026-93072 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-24 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: irqchip/renesas-irqc: Fix generic interrupt chip leak on remove The driver allocates domain generic chips probe. However, on driver removal, the generic chips are not automatically freed when the interrupt domain is removed because the domain flags do not include IRQ_DOMAIN_FLAG_DESTROY_GC. This causes both the domain generic chips structure and the associated generic chips to be leaked. Additionally, the generic chips remain on the global list and may later be accessed by generic interrupt chip suspend, resume, or shutdown callbacks after the driver has been removed, potentially resulting in a use-after-free and kernel crash. Fix the resource leak by setting IRQ_DOMAIN_FLAG_DESTROY_GC on the interrupt domain; this lets the interrupt domain core automatically release all generic chips when irq_domain_remove() is invoked, removing the need for manual cleanup calls in error paths and remove callback.
CVE-2026-78227 1 Nlnetlabs 1 Unbound 2026-09-23 6.5 Medium
NLnet Labs Unbound 1.22.0 up to and including 1.26.1, has a use-after-free vulnerability when compiled for DNS-over-QUIC support with '--with-libngtcp2'. Each DoQ stream owns an output buffer that holds the DNS response. ngtcp2's retransmission buffer keeps a shallow pointer into the output buffer for as long as a STREAM frame may be resent. On a client RESET_STREAM, the output buffer is freed but ngtcp2 still holds the matching retransmission entries. The next PTO timeout makes ngtcp2 re-encode the STREAM frame and copy from the freed buffer. A malicious actor that can query Unbound over DoQ and that withholds ACKs, sends RESET_STREAM, and waits for PTO, reaches this use-after-free with no privilege. This leads to retransmissions against freed memory and eventually an abnormal server exit under a 20-query spray.
CVE-2026-82720 1 Nlnetlabs 1 Unbound 2026-09-23 5.9 Medium
NLnet Labs Unbound 1.12.0 up to and including 1.26.0 has a use-after-free vulnerability when compiled for DNS-over-HTTPs support with '--with-libnghttp2'. During failure code paths (i.e., RPZ drop query, jostle due to heavy traffic), a dropped DoH stream brings down the whole DoH session and does not account properly for other DoH streams in the same session. This leads to use-after-free in those code paths. If the prerequisites are satisfied (possible RPZ drop or heavy client traffic), a malicious actor can trigger the vulnerability with a single DoH connection and the appropriate traffic. Impact is limited as the reads are not user controlled and the use-after-free leads to early returns. However, a hardened allocator can catch the use-after-free and controllably terminate the process resulting to denial of service.
CVE-2026-93586 1 Imagemagick 1 Imagemagick 2026-09-22 2.9 Low
ImageMagick before 7.1.2-31 and before 6.9.13-56 contains a use-after-free vulnerability in the ImagesToBlob method, caused by a pointer that is not updated correctly. Exploitation may result in a limited availability impact (e.g., a crash of the affected process). The issue is fixed in versions 7.1.2-31 and 6.9.13-56.
CVE-2026-89763 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-21 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KEYS: trusted: Fix TPM teardown ordering trusted_tpm_exit() drops the TPM chip reference and frees the digest array before unregistering the trusted key type. key_type_lookup() holds key_types_sem for reading until the key operation finishes, while unregister_key_type() takes it for writing. It therefore provides the synchronization point that must precede backend teardown. The current order permits this interleaving: CPU 0 CPU 1 trusted_tpm_exit() key_type_lookup("trusted") put_device(&chip->dev) trusted_tpm_seal() kfree(digests) pcrlock() unregister_key_type() tpm_pcr_extend(..., digests) CPU 1 can consequently dereference the freed digest array. The chip can also be released before callbacks stop using it. KASAN reported: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in tpm_pcr_extend+0x1f0/0x200 Read of size 2 at addr ffff88810872d000 by task poc/89 Call Trace: tpm_pcr_extend+0x1f0/0x200 pcrlock+0x42/0x70 [trusted] trusted_tpm_seal+0x1b6/0x570 [trusted] trusted_instantiate+0x293/0x340 [trusted] __key_instantiate_and_link+0xb2/0x2b0 __key_create_or_update+0x61e/0xb50 __do_sys_add_key+0x1b8/0x310 Allocated by task 88: __kmalloc_noprof+0x1a7/0x490 do_one_initcall+0xa1/0x390 do_init_module+0x2df/0x840 Freed by task 90: kfree+0x131/0x3c0 trusted_tpm_exit+0x59/0xa0 [trusted] __do_sys_delete_module+0x346/0x510 Move unregister_key_type() before releasing either resource. This stops new lookups and waits for in-flight key operations to finish before the backend state is destroyed.
CVE-2026-89755 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-21 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/migrate_device: clear stale mapping after freeing swapcache __migrate_device_pages() reads the folio mapping before calling folio_free_swap(). When folio_free_swap() succeeds, the folio is removed from the swap cache, but the saved mapping still points to swap_space. Passing the stale mapping to folio_migrate_mapping() makes it use the mapped-folio path for a folio that is no longer in swapcache. It can then operate on swap_space.i_pages with invalid reference accounting, eventually triggering a folio reference count BUG. After a successful split, nr still contains the number of pages in the original large folio, although each resulting page is now a separate order-0 folio. Reset nr to 1 so each split folio is processed separately, including its own swapcache removal and mapping lookup. Refresh the saved mapping after folio_free_swap() so the current folio state is used during migration.
