CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/iucv: fix locking in .getsockopt
Mirror iucv_sock_setsockopt() and wrap the whole switch in
lock_sock()/release_sock(). The pre-existing SO_MSGLIMIT-only lock
becomes redundant and is removed.
Any AF_IUCV HIPER user can potentially crash the kernel by racing
recvmsg() with getsockopt(SO_MSGSIZE): the SO_MSGSIZE arm dereferences
iucv->hs_dev->mtu after iucv_sock_close() (called from the racing
recvmsg()) has set hs_dev to NULL, producing a NULL pointer dereference
oops. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: check_cond_jmp_op(): properly infer if register is null
Nicholas Carlini reported a bug when verifier can incorrectly infer
that a pointer is non-null. The bug occurs when two pointers are
compared and one of them has a type w/o PTR_MAYBE_NULL flag,
but which allows a value to be NULL at runtime.
Here is an example:
// `a` is PTR_TO_MEM | MEM_RDONLY | PTR_UNTRUSTED
// `a` is 0 at runtime.
// `b` is PTR_TO_MAP_VALUE | PTR_MAYBE_NULL
void *a = bpf_rdonly_cast(0, 0);
int *b = bpf_map_lookup_elem(...);
if (a == b)
*b = 42; // verifier does not catch null pointer dereference
This happens because of a special case in check_cond_jmp_op(),
which attempts to strip PTR_MAYBE_NULL flags from pointer types,
when processing comparisons like `rA == rB`, if either rA or rB can't
be null.
The non-null property is derived based on the absence of
PTR_MAYBE_NULL flag on rA's or rB's type. But that is not sufficient
for types like PTR_TO_MEM, as in the example.
This patch replaces type_may_be_null() call with reg_not_null(),
which contains an allowlist of types for which absence of
PTR_MAYBE_NULL actually means that the value can't be NULL at runtime.
At the moment, the list in the reg_not_null() omits two types for
which PTR_MAYBE_NULL is applicable: PTR_TO_XDP_SOCK and PTR_TO_BUF.
In order to remain backward compatible, and assuming that only
comparison between pointers of the same type makes sense,
this commit extends reg_not_null(). W/o such an extension e.g.
verifier_jeq_infer_not_null/null_ptr_to_map_value fails.
reg_not_null() can be extended further, but I deem that out of scope
for the fix at hand. Explicit base_type(...) != PTR_TO_BTF_ID
checks in the check_cond_jmp_op() can be removed with migration to
reg_not_null(), but that is a behavioural change, as the special case
would start matching for PTR_TO_BTF_ID that is also is_trusted_reg().
I omit the behavioural change from this commit. |
| Excelize is a Go language library for reading and writing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. From 2.7.0 to 2.11.0, conditional-format extraction indexes required child slices or dereferences an optional colorScale child without validating malformed rule structure. GetConditionalFormats reaches extractCondFmtCellIs and also indexes ColorScale.Cfvo, DataBar.Cfvo, and DataBar.Color without complete structural checks. When a crafted worksheet supplies a cellIs, dataBar, or colorScale rule missing expected children and the application calls GetConditionalFormats, missing formula, color, value-object, or colorScale data reaches an out-of-range index or nil dereference, allowing an attacker to panic and terminate an unprotected process. No fixed version is available as of this review. |
| IBM DataPower Gateway 10.5.0.0 through 10.5.0.0 through 10.5.0.22, 10.6.1 through 10.6.6, 10.6.0.0 through 10.6.0.10, and 11.0.0.0 through 11.0.0.2 could allow an attacker to cause a denial of service due to a NULL pointer dereference in GraphQL variable processing. |
| A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Win8ScreenDriver component of GlavSoft TightVNC Server for Windows before 2.8.88 allows an attacker to crash the server, causing a denial of service. When re-initialization of the DXGI Desktop Duplication driver fails in applyNewScreenProperties() (for example after a GPU reset, display hot-plug or session change), m_drvImpl is left NULL and is subsequently dereferenced without a check by executeDetection(), getScreenBuffer(), grabFb(), getScreenPropertiesChanged() and getCursorPosition(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ethtool: tsinfo: don't pass ERR_PTR to genlmsg_cancel on prepare failure
The goto err label leads to:
genlmsg_cancel(skb, ehdr);
return ret;
If ethnl_tsinfo_prepare_dump() failed, it has not started a genlmsg.
There's nothing to cancel, and passing an error pointer to
genlmsg_cancel() would cause a crash. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bonding: refuse to enslave CAN devices
syzbot reported a kernel paging request crash in
can_rx_unregister() inside net/can/af_can.c. The crash occurs
because a virtual CAN device (vxcan) is being enslaved to a
bonding master.
During the enslavement process, the bonding driver mutates
and modifies the network device states to fit an Ethernet-like
aggregation model. However, CAN devices operate on a completely
different Layer 2 architecture, relying on the CAN mid-layer
private data structure (can_ml_priv) instead of standard
Ethernet structures. Since bonding does not initialize or
maintain these CAN structures, subsequent operations on the
half-enslaved interface (such as closing associated sockets
via isotp_release) lead to a null-pointer dereference when
accessing the CAN receiver lists.
Bonding CAN interfaces is architecturally invalid as CAN lacks
MAC addresses, ARP capabilities, and standard Ethernet
link-layer mechanisms. While generic loopback devices are
blocked globally in net/core/dev.c, virtual CAN devices
bypass this check because they do not carry the IFF_LOOPBACK
flag, despite acting as local software-loopbacks.
Fix this by explicitly blocking network devices of type
ARPHRD_CAN from being enslaved at the very beginning of
bond_enslave(). This prevents illegal state mutations,
eliminates the resulting KASAN crashes, and avoids potential
memory leaks from incomplete socket cleanups.
As the CAN support has been added a long time after bonding
the Fixes-tag points to the introduction of ARPHRD_CAN that
would have needed a specific handling in bonding_main.c. |
| A flaw was found in 389 Directory Server. The dereference control plugin does not check for allocation failure before using a BER structure, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to crash the LDAP server when the system is under memory pressure. |
| A flaw was found in 389 Directory Server. A missing NULL pointer check in the paged results handling of op_shared_search allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to crash the LDAP server by sending a crafted sequence of search requests using the USE_ONE_BACKEND control, resulting in denial of service. |
| IBM DataPower Gateway 10.5.0.0 through 10.5.0.22, 10.6.1 through 10.6.6, 10.6.0.0 through 10.6.0.10, and 11.0.0.0 through 11.0.0.2 could allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service due to a null pointer dereference. |
| A flaw was found in sssd. A local attacker can trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending a specially crafted Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM) request when passkey authentication is enabled. Due to a missing state validation check in passkey Kerberos handling, the PAM responder dereferences an uninitialized pointer and crashes. This failure disrupts authentication services on the host. |

| Issue summary: A CMP client that requests certificate revocation on the basis
of a PKCS#10 CSR may dereference a NULL pointer and terminate abnormally when
processing a crafted revocation response.
Impact summary: The NULL pointer dereference happens on a read which
leads to a crash and a Denial of Service for the affected client application.
CWE: CWE-476: NULL-pointer dereference
Description: A CMP client revoking a certificate has to tell the server which
certificate to revoke, and may do so by supplying a PKCS#10 CSR instead of the
certificate itself or its issuer name and serial number. This is
'openssl cmp -cmd rr -csr <file>' on the command line, or
OSSL_CMP_exec_RR_ses() with the certificate supplied via
OSSL_CMP_CTX_set1_p10CSR() through the API.
A CSR does not contain the issuer name and serial number of the certificate,
so the client does not send them. A server may optionally name the
certificate it revoked in its response, and the client then compares that
name against what it sent. Having sent neither an issuer name nor a serial
number, it has nothing to compare against, and a server returning a specially
crafted name causes the client to read from a NULL pointer and crash.
The revocation response is checked for valid message protection before
the affected code is reached, so an attacker must be a malicious or
compromised CMP server, or a man-in-the-middle in possession of the
secret used for message protection. Clients that identify the certificate
to be revoked by a certificate or by issuer and serial number rather
than by a PKCS#10 CSR are not affected.
FIPS impact: no
No FIPS modules are affected by this issue, as the CMP protocol
implementation is outside the OpenSSL FIPS module boundary. |
| RF4CE protocol dissector crash in 4.6.0 to 4.6.8 and 4.4.0 to 4.4.18 allows denial of service |
| Excelize is a Go language library for reading and writing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. From 2.9.0 to 2.11.0, GetSlicers checks for ExtLst but dereferences ws.Drawing without checking whether the independently optional drawing element exists. File.GetSlicers reads ws.Drawing.RID after seeing a worksheet extLst element even when the independently optional worksheet drawing element is absent. When a crafted worksheet contains an extLst element without a drawing element and the application calls GetSlicers, the nil ws.Drawing pointer is dereferenced while resolving the drawing relationship, allowing an attacker to panic and terminate an unprotected process. No fixed version is available as of this review. |
| A flaw was found in sssd. A remote attacker can cause a denial of service (DoS) by submitting a certificate that lacks an expected Security Identifier (SID) extension. In deployments configured with SID-based certificate mapping rules, the service fails to verify the presence of the extension before processing it, causing the process to crash during authentication or lookup operations. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Bluetooth: 6lowpan: check skb_clone() return value in send_mcast_pkt()
The skb_clone() function can return NULL if memory allocation fails.
send_mcast_pkt() calls skb_clone() without checking the return value, which
can lead to a NULL pointer dereference in send_pkt() when it dereferences
skb->data.
Add a NULL check after skb_clone() and skip the peer if the clone fails. |
| An exploitable denial-of-service vulnerability exists in the X509 certificate parser of Python.org Python 2.7.11 / 3.6.6. A specially crafted X509 certificate can cause a NULL pointer dereference, resulting in a denial of service. An attacker can initiate or accept TLS connections using crafted certificates to trigger this vulnerability. |
| A flaw was found in m17n-lib. A partial failure during library initialization can leave an internal driver pointer uninitialized. Under specific error conditions, such as system resource exhaustion or database corruption, an application attempting to open an input method dereferences this null pointer without proper validation. This issue causes the application to crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). |
